Kodak's Story

This beautiful boy is KODAK and he's the happiest and sweetest boy you could ever meet. He's an American Eskimo and White Shepherd mix who is just 1 year old and weighs 48 pounds. He's got the movie star looks but more importantly, he has a lovely and charming personality! He's great with everyone he meets and friendly to other dogs so he'll be a great member of a active family. He's smart and wiggley and somehow knows to smile when he's having his picture taken. He also walks great on a leash and enjoys going for car rides. He's been vetted by our Vet and is healthy, up to date on his vaccines, neutered and ready to start his new life. Long Road Home's Adoption Policy

Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
