Koda (Eugene, OR)'s Story

Meet Koda: An Adorable, High-Energy Australian Cattle Dog Puppy Looking for Her Perfect Match

This exceptionally cute 6-month-old Australian Cattle Dog puppy is full of life, enthusiasm, and potential — and she’s ready for a home that can keep up with her.

Koda is a 23-lb, confident, excitable young ACD who approaches the world with curiosity and intensity. She’s smart, athletic, and very much a typical cattle dog puppy: energetic, expressive, and eager to engage. Despite her high energy, Koda is doing incredibly well with crate training and alone time training, happily resting in her crate while her foster parents are out of the house for a couple of hours.

She loves sniffy walks, exploring her environment, and engaging her brain, and she would make a fantastic hiking partner as she matures. Her joy for movement and discovery makes her a wonderful match for an active household that enjoys outdoor adventures.

Because of her strong prey drive, Koda will need a small-creature-free home — this includes cats, rodents, chickens, or other small animals, even if they are outdoor-only. She may do best as the only dog, though she could potentially live with another dog-social dog who is on the more playful side, with continued management and thoughtful introductions.

Koda’s foster family has been incredible at setting her up for success. She’s been working closely with a trainer, attending puppy classes regularly, and participating in desensitization training to help her navigate the world more calmly. She’s gained experience with loud noises (including other dogs barking), new environments, and unfamiliar situations. And she's been working hard on her impulse control and doing fantastic thanks to fun training games! Due to this consistent work, Koda is quickly learning to regulate her excitement and make great choices.

Koda will thrive in a home that understands the needs of an active, driven herding breed and is excited to continue providing training, structure, mental enrichment, and daily engagement. With the right guidance, she has all the tools to become an incredible companion.

If you’re looking for a smart, energetic puppy who will grow into a loyal adventure buddy, Koda may be the one for you.

Koda is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccines and preventatives. She is being fostered in Eugene, OR. To ensure the best possible match, Koda will require a meet & greet and one home visit prior to adoption.

Adoption Process:
– Adoption Application
– Phone Conversation
– Meet & Greet
– Home Visit
– Application Approval
– Adoption Fee & Contract ($490)

Our adoption application is available at pnwcdr.org/adopt
