Koda's Story

Meet Koda – Big Pup, Bigger Heart
Koda is only about 4 months old, and is a sturdy, strong boy with a gentle, playful spirit. Found as a stray on 9/26, Koda quickly showed everyone that he’s all love and wiggles.
He’s a friendly, social puppy who adores people and loves to play. Koda greets everyone like an old friend and has that irresistible charm that makes you smile the moment you meet him. He’s curious about the world and carries a natural confidence that shines through, even at such a young age.
Koda has been raised as a house dog and is used to being around kids. Because he’s still a big, growing pup who doesn’t quite know his size yet, he’d do best in a home with children 8 and older. Petersburg Animal Care & Control's Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in adopting from Petersburg Animal Care & Control! We’re so glad you’re considering giving a shelter pet a loving home. We do not charge an adoption fee; however, all animals must be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, and the cost of the procedure is covered by the adopter. We’re happy to support adopters by coordinating appointments with our low-cost veterinary partners for spay/neuter services and other basic care needs. Adoption Process • We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you get to know the animal. • When you arrive, please sign in and wait to be escorted by a staff member or volunteer before entering the kennel areas. • For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet, our team will bring them to a meet-and-greet area for proper introductions. • After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application. Applications must be approved before we can schedule a meet-and-greet with your family pets. • Meet-and-greets with personal pets are by appointment only, and for safety, two staff members must be present to handle all animals involved. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make each match the best fit possible — both for our animals and their future families.
