Koda's Story

Hi! I'm Koda and have lived with my fosters and 6 cats for 2 months. I've never met a person or doggie that I haven't liked. I exuberantly greet and want so much to make friends with everyone. Did you know that cats don't always want to be friends, nor do they want to play, near as much as I do? I'm a great herder of cats, but they don't like it so much. Playtime with my fosters is so fun-fetch, tug of war, seek and find snacks. I really love to play with my family, but I also entertain myself with all my great toys. I even help them clean up around the house by picking up everything loose on the floor.

With eagerness to please and my love of snacks, I've learned to sit, settle, come, lie down and shake paws. I love to go on walks and am still learning to not pull. Don't jump and no bark are hard concepts to grasp, but we keep trying. Potty training is going excellent as I run to the back door and sit patiently. However, sometimes I have to jump on the door handle, especially if I have to go really urgently.

My foster family lets me sleep with them now. I love being with them at nights instead of my crate. However, I understand that at times, I need to be crated, especially when they leave. They always put some of my favorite toys in, so I don't miss them as much when they have to leave.

As part hound, my scent driven nose helps me to explore and find hidden treasures-squirrels, lizards, roaches, old toys, and socks (my personal favorite). I've even found my "hound" voice. As part lab, I love the game of fetch, play in the water and even can swim.

Photos really don't highlight the dynamic coloring on my snout and body. I wish I could add a touch factor to the pics, because everyone tells me how silky soft my hair is.

I really look forward to my forever family and all the new adventures in store for us. In the meantime, I'll continue to have fun, make new doggie and human friends, and continue to learn new commands and tricks.

Koda is a female Labrador/Hound mix with an estimated date of birth of 7/27/25. As of 11/29, she weighs 27 lbs.

K-9 Angels Rescue's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION FEEs: CASH or CHECK ONLY DOGS $200 ($275 for Puppies) - includes spay/neuter alteration, shots, microchip, medicines and other medical procedures, if necessary. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: Due to the Coronavirus we are suspending out of state adoptions until further notice. Our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months for complete vetting by our Houston veterinarian. We have been inundated with too many applications and, going forward, we will only review applications for people who currently have a dog or who have had a dog where the vet reference is in THE APPLICANT's name. We are unable to respond to email inquiries and requests for updates as we do not have the staff or capacity to handle all the emails/applications we are receiving. We will contact you via email with approvals and/or requests should we need additional information. When we reopen for adoptions it will be by appointment only for pre-approved adopters with good vet references. We will continue to do 3rd and 4th vaccinations for any previously adopted puppies from 10am-12pm on Saturdays at the adoption center. Please follow instructions upon your arrival there.
