Koda's Story

A060318 Koda; neutered German Shepherd; ; est. 3 years; 83.60 lbs
Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services
(209)754-6509
Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/
Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov

Koda is heartthrob handsome and quite photogenic. His classic conformation has led our Shepherd expert to surmise he may have excellent bloodlines, perhaps even be a purebred German Shepherd. Regardless, he's one good looking dog.

His original owner rehomed him, then his second owner abandoned him with his crate and tuggy-ball toy in Copperopolis obviously hoping someone would take him in. Such instability in his young life would of course be traumatic and leave him wondering what the heck happened to all his people.

Koda is a people-oriented dog. He is fine with other dogs, if a bit disinterested. He suffers from some separation anxiety as a result of his experiences. He will do best with a family that wants to spend time with him rather than leaving him alone for long periods.

He really is a lovely dog who deserves a wonderful home. We can see in him a calm, self-possessed nature that is evident even through shelter life.

Koda is a large, strong dog who pulls a bit on leash. He will need an adopter who can handle his strength and provide him with more training while giving him time to develop new bonds. He does love playing with his tuggy-ball toy when he is not distracted by all the strange sounds and activity around him. His playful side comes out as he relaxes.

This beautiful, good boy with a wounded heart is long past the puppy crazies while still having years of vital life left to share with the right adopter. Come and meet him and you might find your soulmate!

Koda is neutered and can go home with you right away.

Though we can't make guarantees, he appears to be housetrained.

We do not have info on his attitude toward cats at this time. 🐱

As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
