Koda's Story

Hi There! My name is Koda, or as the shelter team calls me, Cool Koda, Koda Bear, or really anything, as long as you don’t call me late to dinner, treats, or a game of fetch.

I am roughly 5 years old, a medium mixed breed girl, and I’ve been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and I’m up to date on my heartworm testing.

You might recognize me as I was adopted from the shelter about 4 years ago, when I was a young pup. And before you get any ideas, I hit the JACKPOT with my owner. She was the best thing in my world, and I loved her so much.

Unfortunately, she fell on hard times, and I mean really hard times. She lost her housing and didn’t feel it was right for me to have to jump around with her until she found a place to call home again. She did right by me and brought me to the shelter. I miss her so much.

The shelter team tucks me in every night, and they tell me how pretty I am, and they promise me, each night there’s a new family waiting for me, with just as much love to give. I go to sleep dreaming of that home every night.

Some things you should know about me, in a shelter setting, I do not appear to be dog friendly. It takes me some time to warm up to new people, but once I do, I’m in it for the butt scratches, ear rubs, and words of affirmation.

I do not know what my past was like with kids, or cats, so that’s something that my new family would need to supervise carefully. You should know, I am an EXPERT fetch player, I love my toys, I love my treats, and I’m so ready to rest my head in a home again. I just have a few things to bring with me, that my owner brought to the shelter. This includes, my blanket, and my toy box that has my name designed right on it. I hope you won’t mind if I bring this stuff with, it’ll help with the transition.

I would love to meet you, have a snack, and catch a game of fetch. I’m available at the shelter Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions, reach out to AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. I hope we get to play soon!
