Kobi's Story

Be gentle with me, I'm new here :)

My name is Kobi and I am a new arrival at Hope 4 Paws. I was surrendered last month through no fault of my own. Unfortunately, my size and energy were a bit overwhelming for the young children in my household.

Being surrendered certainly took an emotional toll on me as I shut down completely. I refused to leave my cage and would often soil my linens when the other dogs began barking at me. Thankfully my kennel mom took a chance on me and showed me just how much I can accomplish with her gentle patience and compassion. After nearly 15 minutes of being locked in place with fear, I was finally able to leave my kennel one morning and venture into the hallway. Not to brag or anything, but I am now an EXPERT at going outside and coming back into my kennel.

At just 18 months old, I really am still a puppy at heart. I love to zoom around with my stuffies and do my silly tail spins in the play yard. Overall, I enjoy greeting new people with my wagging tail and big smile but can still be shy around certain new faces. It definitely takes me a bit longer to warm up to men than women. It has been difficult for the shelter staff to pair me with a puppy playmate here as I am so afraid of the other dogs bullying me and making me use the bathroom on myself again. My former family stated that I enjoyed playing with the neighborhood dogs, so I hope to make new doggie friends in the future. My pawfect family is patient and definitely has adults and older kids who will give me a chance to warm up and show them just how incredible I can be.

If you believe in the power of second chances, please consider giving a puppy like me the home I deserve!
