Kobe's Story

Meet Kobe!

After 12 years with the only family he’s ever known, this 13-year-old Shih Poo found himself surrendered to the shelter when his people could no longer afford his care.

Kobe is a gentle, polite, well-loved soul. He is a social boy who enjoys time with other dogs at the park, meeting new people, and generally being part of his community. Even now, in the middle of upheaval, his sweetness and social spirit still shine through.

Kobe enjoys going for walks and will insist on receiving a treat upon his return. He's even trained his foster sibling to insist upon the same! He's a top notch passenger in the car, perfectly housebroken, and doesn't mind staying home alone when his people have to run out. And he loves snuggling up with his person in bed at night.

Kobe loves playing fetch and seems to want to play with his canine foster sibling though he's unclear on exactly how to go about it. He's is good at communicating when he's not comfortable and has informed his foster family that he does not enjoy being picked up. Four on the floor is his rule. He will do best in a family without young children and with adults willing to listen for and respect his boundaries.

Kobe likes his foster mom, but he LOVES men. Any time her male friends or neighbors stop by, he is over the moon. He enjoys the company of other dogs and is working on finding a food that suits his digestive system.

We can’t wait for someone to fall in love with Kobe the way we have.
