Meet Klondike

Born December 2018, Klondike is an oversize 128 pound teen-pup that came to us from a shelter. We suspect he was born out of a puppy mill because of his anxious personality. This teenager is still learning doggy manners and will need help with learning home life again. With exercise, mental stimulation (enrichment), and appropriate chewing toys, Klondike is learning what is acceptable. He enjoys playing with a tennis ball and will bring them back for a game of fetch. This seems to be his favorite activity but in true malamute fashion needs some convincing of dropping the ball. Klondike is currently taking anxiety medication which seems to help and has seen a behaviorist. He gets anxious about new things and loves to stick to a routine.

He will need to continue fear-free dog training to help build confidence. New environments and experiences cause anxiety so baby steps for this pup. He may benefit from having a young female companion but no small pets of any kind. He thrives with structure and needs to trust his people first. A six foot fence is recommended for this boy as well.

**Northern Breed & Force-Free Dog Training Experience Required**

If you are interested in adopting or fostering this dog, please complete an application online via our website: https://www.chaamp.org/ or email: CHAAMPapplication@gmail.com for an application.

Your application helps CHAAMP determine a good match based upon your lifestyle, other pets, etc. We are happy to work with you. A home visit is required prior to all adoptions. You can visit the Malamutes once you're approved for adoption. Alternatively, you may volunteer and learn how positive reinforcement brings out the best in Malamutes.

CHAAMP accepts applications from Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington DC.

ADOPTION FEES
~Adult dogs (two-seven years old): $275.00
~Older dogs (eight years old or over): $100.00
~Puppies (6 months - 1 year): $350.00
~Puppies (under 6 months): $375.00

All Malamutes are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Adoption fees help us cover these costs. Puppy fees are higher because they require more vet visits for vaccines.

CHAAMP IS NOT A SHELTER. We are volunteers covering a 7-state region.

CHAAMP is a Rescue Affiliate Member of the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL). Our rescue efforts are coordinated locally. For a list of AMAL rescues in the USA and Canada, please visit https://www.malamuterescue.org/

CHAAMP is also a proud member of the Pet Professional Guild.
