While she still has a fun, puppy-like spirit that shines through when she feels safe, the intense environment has caused her significant kennel stress. She is looking for a very specific hero to guide her back to herself.

The Reality of Shelter Stress

The shelter has become too much for Kiva, and she is showing us just how desperately she needs a home to decompress in.

In her kennel: She has begun spinning and pacing out of anxiety.

On the leash: Her high energy and stress have manifested as extreme hyper-arousal, making her very strong and difficult to control on walks.

Handling boundaries: Because returning to her kennel causes her so much distress, she has shown severe handling resistance and reactivity when it is time to go back inside, requiring a handler who can safely manage highly stressful transitions.

The Good Stuff Inside

Beneath the anxiety, Kiva's true personality is wonderful. She loves spending time with people and is a loyal, friendly pup at heart. She is highly treat-motivated, already knows how to "sit," and is eager to please. If you bring out a squeaky toy for a game of fetch, you'll get to see the fun, joyful dog she longs to be full-time.

Kiva's Ideal Match

Kiva cannot go to a first-time dog owner. She needs a strong, highly experienced adopter who understands behavioral decompression and can provide a structured, calm environment.

Adoption Requirements:

Experience: Advanced dog handling experience required.

Training: Commitment to positive-reinforcement training to redirect her energy and work through leash reactivity.

Outlets: A home ready to provide both intense physical exercise and mental stimulation (puzzles, nose work) for her big brain.

Environment: A quiet home where she can safely reset without the chaotic triggers of a shelter.

If you have the experience, patience, and strength to rescue a dog who is truly crying out for help, Kiva has a lifetime of loyalty and love to give you in return.

Adoption fee: $300

https://youtube.com/shorts/gu6jyO2sWLo Primary Color: Black Weight: 46lbs Age: 2yrs 3mths 2wks Animal has been Spayed
