Kita's Story

Here at Haven Pet Center, I'm known as "Momma Kita" by many of the staff and volunteers. That's because when I arrived, I'd just finished nursing a whole litter of my puppies! My former owner brought me and my puppies to Animal Friends of the Valleys. All my puppies got adopted from there. I did such a good job caring for them that AFV could tell I needed some extra TLC to gain some weight back and look good enough for my forever home to find me. So they sent me to Haven in August 2025, and I've been having the best time here ever since!

If there's one thing I'm guilty of, it's picking favorites, especially among the staff and volunteers. I've been known to occasionally drop my dignified look, zoom over to my favorite people, and flop over in their laps for belly rubs. I'm a pro with other dogs, making sure that they understand the do's and don'ts of the play yard. After raising a whole litter of mini-Kitas, it's easy! If you walk by my kennel and notice me barking, don't worry. Because I'm an Akita mix, it's what my genetics tell me to do. I bark a whole lot in my kennel but tend to be really quiet on walks and in the play yards, even when I see strange people or dogs.

If you're looking for a new group-mom, look no farther! Just stop by Haven Pet Center and ask to meet me. I'll be rolling over for belly rubs from you in no time.
