Kirky's Story
Hi there, I’m Kirky! I’m a handsome boy with a big heart, a curious nose, and just a tiny mischievous streak to keep life interesting.

At home, I’m an absolute love bug. I adore cuddles, head scratches, and especially a good butt scratch. I’m very affectionate with my people and enjoy being close — sometimes I’ll sleep in my own bed, and sometimes I’ll sneak onto yours. I’m food motivated, love being petted, and am always happy to soak up attention from the people I trust.

On walks, I’m more of an explorer than a social butterfly. I can be reactive to dogs I see outside and tend to pull on the leash, especially when my nose picks up exciting scents like rabbits or squirrels. Because I’m a bit of a Houdini, I’ve managed to slip out of my collar before — so double-leashing is strongly recommended to keep me safe. I do, however, seem capable of living with another dog with slow, thoughtful introductions, and I’ve done well around a dog-savvy cat in the home.

Inside the house, I’m generally mellow and content, especially after a good walk. I do have a talent for counter surfing and will help myself to anything within reach, so a tidy home is a must — including keeping food, pill cases, and cat food well out of reach. I’m house-trained, but I do like to mark outside, so regular walks help me fully empty my tank. When left alone, I mostly settle and sleep, though this is also when my counter-surfing skills may shine.

I’m best suited for a home with older kids, patient and dog-savvy humans, and ideally a yard where I can safely sniff, explore, and burn off some energy. I’d love a family that’s home more often than not and willing to continue working on my leash manners and reactivity with positive reinforcement.

I may have a naughty side, but underneath it all I’m a genuinely sweet, cuddly, and loving companion. With the right home, a secure setup, and a bit of guidance, I’ll be an incredibly devoted best friend.

Love,
Kirky

Kirky was born approximately November 2024 and is a medium-sized dog.

His adoption fee is $475.
