Kira's Story

Looking for a best friend full of love, personality, and snuggles? Kira is a sweet, affectionate girl who feels safest and happiest indoors with her people. She thrives in a calm, stable home where she can relax, be loved, and return that love tenfold.
Kira is house-trained and crate-trained-though she may try to escape a wired crate when anxious, she usually settles well when she feels secure. Despite being deaf, she's incredibly smart and has learned hand signals for commands like "sit" and "quiet," proving that communication is no barrier to connection.
She adores kids and meeting new people and will happily ask for belly rubs, often flashing a big, happy smile in return. Kira enjoys walks, car rides, and curling up on a comfy bed-whether it's hers or yours.
Kira needs to be the only pet in the home due to a strong prey drive and prefers not to share her space with other animals. She loves attention and companionship and will thrive in a home where she's doted on.
She has a playful side, loves to shred toys, but is otherwise well-mannered. She may pull a little on the leash when excited and dislikes baths, sometimes trying to escape mid-scrub. Kira uses a high-pitched bark when anxious or seeking attention.
With a few special needs, Kira's huge heart and gentle nature make her an incredible companion. She communicates beautifully through her eyes, body language, and unwavering devotion.
Kira is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative/on prevention.

Erath County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
When someone comes in wanting to adopt, we first ask what they are looking for in a new pet. If they can describe what they are looking for, we will make some suggestions based on that criteria, and then let them go through the shelter looking at the adoptable animals. There are kennel cards on each kennel with information specific to that animal. Once they find an animal they are interested in we do a meet and greet with the person interested in adopting. If they have other pets, we recommend a meet and greet with current pets as well. Whatever animal the potential adopter chooses, we highly suggest a 5 day foster period to make sure the animal and the adopter are a good fit.
