Meet Kipper

Needing a little more love and energy brought into your home, then say hello to Kipper! ♥

From his foster mom:
"Kipper gives BIG love. Probably too much love for homes with small kids, but if you are looking for a BIG lap dog - he’s your guy!!! Does great with other dogs, and is good with kids. He just doesn’t realize he’s as large as he is and needs to be in a home with kids big enough to handle his love. He has active moments but is happily a couch potato too..especially if you’re cuddling with him. He is quick to pick up on the routine. He knows how to use a dog door. He is READY to be your BEST FRIEND & love you FOREVER in his BIG fashion! ??"

Kipper is a gorgeous 3-year-old, 93lb male Bernese Mountain Dog. Kipper was originally adopted by an individual who had this guy living outside only. He was with them for a few months, but after a little while, it became apparent that Kipper wanted more attention than his owner could give. This boy LOVES to love and he can be a bit of a bowling ball when he comes in for attention and knocked over his owner a few times trying to get into the mix with her other dogs for attention. Kipper didn't mean anything by it, he is just an extreme wigglebutt and doesn't understand that with his size he can knock some people...and dogs out of the way with it haha. Kipper enjoys playing with other dogs, but he will only lightly play with them. His main goal is to play and get attention from his people. He would do great in a home with another dog or two, but he would be just as happy being an only dog if his owner were home most of the day. Kipper would absolutely hate being in a house all alone for several hours a day. This boy would go EVERYWHERE with his person if he could. Kipper is good with cats and pays them hardly any mind. Kipper loves kids because again...this boy LOVES to love. However, he is wigglebutt when he gets excited(which is a lot) and will knock younger kiddos over so he will definitely need kids 8+ so he doesn't always knock them over or get in there face.

Kipper does well on car rides and will hop right in the car. He has been out in public a few times and did great. Typically, Berners tend to be on the more reserved side...not Kipper. He believes that everyone is his friend and will go up to anyone he thinks may pet him and love on him. Kipper is definitely a people dog, and he would absolutely love getting to go places with his new family. Kipper likes walks, but he does pull quite a bit and will need some more working with on the leash. Kipper would definitely make a wonderful hiking companion, but as mentioned will need some more working with the leash as he does pull when he wants to check something out. Kipper does jump on people, especially when he is really excited to see them. His foster family is working with him on this, but his new family needs to be ready for 93lbs of fluff and love! Kipper does well around unfamiliar dogs and pretty much pays them no mind. Kipper would very much enjoy going places with his family, but not so much for the adventure but because he would get to be with his people. So, he would also do great with a family that were more homebodies if they were home most of the time and had ways to keep him stimulated.

Kipper is not interested in playing fetch. Kipper absolutely loves to play with toys and enjoys them very much. Kipper has not had the chance to play in any water, so we are unsure if he is a water dog or not. As far as his personality goes, Kipper mostly wants to be around his people. He will play with other dogs but not for long periods of time. He will play with chew toys but not for long periods of time. Mostly, he is a big people-loving house dog. Kipper would not be a good candidate for apartment living due to his size and excitement level. Kipper is potty trained but has never been kenneled. Kipper currently has free roam of the house when his foster family is away and does well. Kipper has not been a big chewer in his foster home and hasn't been destructive. Kipper is not a big barker but he will bark if the other dogs bark or if someone is at the door.

If you feel like handsome and lovable Kipper belongs with your family, be sure to apply with us at

Once this app comes in, it will be sent to his foster family. This is to help ensure that it is not only a good fit for you but Kipper as well.

Kipper is being fostered in Tulsa, OK. If you have fallen in love with him and are out of state, how about a road trip? We don't send our fluffy butts on commercial transports. So, if you want one of our amazing fluffy butts, it is time to plan a trip to good ole Oklahoma ?
His adoption fee is $250.00.
That will include his DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. She will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
