Kiki - lovable & happy's Story

Kiki is a beautiful, 62-lb. classic black & white velvet MooMoo cow and always ready to go with a wagging tail. We love this girl - she makes us laugh constantly with her antics and her larger-than-life personality. She has spent a long time with us and has seen her kennel friends being adopted, and yet she is still with us.

Kiki had come to us from AHS Newark where she had been surrendered due to her former "owner" having "too many dogs." So, she landed at the shelter bearing signs of having been bred many times, overweight, sagging body that had to be uncomfortable, and some lumps (which were removed and no issues). But true to her spirit, she was happy to be with us and after being spayed and getting a "tummy tuck", an extended period of our daily walks and good nutrition, the comment from those who had not seen her in awhile was "Kiki got a body lift!"

Kiki got to spend time in a great foster home with Courtney@smartpawsdogs.com. where she was able to decompress and relax outside of the kennel environment. She was very fulfilled being in a home and part of a family and would love to be a part of a forever home. She is housebroken, loves to snuggle and enjoys her training sessions (training = treats!). She enjoys walking and spending relaxation time with calm kennel friends. She's about 9 years old, very food motivated, and though she can take treats gently, an adult home or teens and up is preferable because she does love her food and snacks (she does not guard, but she isn't shy about asking you for yours).

Recently her BFF and kennel neighbor Starla was adopted after a long while and now Kiki waits...We all LOVE this girl and would LOVE to find great home with large dog experience where she can have people she can love and live the great life she so deserves.

An adoption counselor will process the application, and contact the applicant to discuss any questions or considerations either party may have. Adoptable Dogs: To ensure placement into a home best suited to each individual dog, the application process includes having applicants complete our Dog Pre-Adoption Application form, on which we ask for some general information, including two references and a veterinary reference, where applicable. If the applicant rents, a written consent must be submitted by the landlord stating that a dog such as the one being considered will be allowed residence in the building. If more than one application is received for a particular dog at any given time, the applicants will be notified, and the adoption counselors, upon processing these applications, will make a decision, in the dog’s best interest, as to the adoptive home.
