Kiara's Story

Kiara – Playful, Sweet, and Full of Life
Kiara, lovingly called Kiki by her foster ma, is a 60-lb spayed pit bull/hound mix with a joyful personality and a big heart. She’s an enthusiastic, playful girl who loves toys, walks, and exploring the world with her nose. If you toss a toy or hide a treat, Kiara is ready for the challenge!
She’s very affectionate and loves to cuddle after a fun day of play. Kiara is great on leash, enjoys yard time, and doesn’t bark much—only giving a quick alert when someone approaches the yard. She’s food-motivated, takes treats gently, and has excellent food manners.
Kiara has met a couple dogs, but would need proper introductions before going to a house with another dog. She’s also comfortable being handled and enjoys affection from her people.
Kiara would do best in an active home that enjoys walks, playtime, and spending time together. A fenced yard and lots of activity would make her very happy. Because she has a strong prey drive, she should not live with small animals.
She’s still learning some house manners and will need to be crated when left alone and given regular potty breaks while she settles into a routine. Kiara can also be a little shy with men at first but warms up with patience and kindness.
If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate adventure buddy who also loves to cuddle, Kiara might be your perfect match.

Once we receive an application it is forwarded to our applications manager for screening. She interviews the applicant about their home, work-life, personal life, expected dog life, and previous pet history. We then check references; personal, professional, and vet. We host a meet and greet with the adopters and their furry friends(if applicable) after a virtual home visit. The next step would be they move into foster with their potential family (including a 2-week shutdown), after the 2-week shutdown our dog trainer does an in-home consultation. After the consultation, the adoption contract is then sent to the family to sign.
