Khaleesi's Story

About Khaleesi
Status: Available
Breed: Border Collie Mix
Gender: Spayed Female
DOB: 02/19/2025
LOCATION: Radford, VA
WEIGHT: 40lbs
COAT: Rough Coat
COLOR: Black Tri-Colored
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Companion

Meet Khaleesi!

Khaleesi is a beautiful tri-colored, border collie mix thats looking for a very special and PATIENT home! She found herself in a shelter after she and her dog-family were surrendered. Khaleesi arrived at her foster home extremely shut down and terrified of everything. Her first month in foster care was spent hiding in a corner and boy has she made some big strides! Khaleesi ventures out in the yard, goes on trips to Lowes, and she is even happy to meet new on her terms (her foster will explain this in more detail but any sort of pressure on her from strangers and she will shut down).

Khaleesi would benefit from living in a home that has another dog or two. The dog should be confident and playful so she has someone to rely on and follow their lead! She will do best in a low-trafficked home as the hustle and bustle of an active household could cause her to shut down. She has met kids on her outings and has been ok but would honestly do better with a calmer living situation so no kids is preferred. Khaleesi does take medication for car rides of any length, even if you go down the street, and will likely need on them for the foreseeable future for nausea and anxiety.

Khaleesi is house and crate-trained. She walks well on a leash and is learning new things every day. She is learning how to catch a disc and seems to love it! She is cuddly, especially on recliners, and once she trusts you the bond you will have together will be so strong! She has a very soft personality and even a slight change in your tone of voice could make her cower. She is truly going to need a patient home! A home with a HARD fenced-in yard is REQUIRED!

The best situation for Khaleesi would be a quiet home with a single person or couple that has no kids and lives in a more rural area. The home should be low-trafficked, too. People that are dog-savvy and can accept Khaleesi for all of her quirks would be the best fit!

If you are the perfect forever home for Khaleesi, please fill out an application and contact her foster parents at kellybrbcrfoster@gmail.com. BRBCR's approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dogs location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Khaleesi's adoption fee is $350.

Thank you for considering a rescue dog!

Fill out an adoption application on our website OR email a completed adoption application to brbcrdogs@gmail.com. 3. A BRBCR volunteer will conduct a phone interview with the applicant and the applicant's veterinarian and personal references. 4. A BRBCR volunteer will conduct a home visit with the applicant.
