At The Atlantic Paws Project, our adoption policies are designed to ensure that every dog is placed in a loving, permanent home as a cherished family member. We require adopters to provide a "nonrefundable" donation to support our rescue efforts and commit to high standards of care, which includes keeping the dog primarily indoors with full house privileges, providing quality nutrition, and ensuring they are never used as guard animals or transported in open vehicles. Adopters assume full responsibility for all veterinary care including maintaining current vaccinations, heartworm, and flea/tick preventatives and must keep microchip information up to date. If behavioral challenges arise, we require owners to work with a professional trainer to resolve them; however, if an adoption cannot continue for any reason, the dog must be returned to us rather than being sold or rehomed elsewhere.
