He weighs just over 50 pounds, and after a pretty rough start, being left at a boarding facility in Alabama and never picked up, he’s ready for his true forever home.

Kevlar has been waiting for 4yrs with zero interest ?. We can't figure out why. He's such a good boy. Some would say he's a great boy.

When the rescue group that originally pulled him from a high-kill shelter shut down, Kevlar came to us. And thank dog he did because this boy is a keeper.

Kevlar is dog-friendly with the right crew. He tends to vibe best with females or laid-back males who aren’t bigger than him. (He's not trying to start drama, he's just got boundaries, okay?) He does have crate anxiety, so crating isn’t for him but he’s house-trained and trustworthy in the home.

He still has some energy in those paws and enjoys doing zoomies or just trotting around the yard like he owns it. And don’t bother with baby gate, Kevlar sees them as light suggestions. He can jump them without hesitation if there’s a door calling his name.

Now let’s talk toys: Kevlar doesn’t fetch balls. He DESTROYS them. It’s part of his charm. Squeakers? Goners. Tennis balls? Pulverized. Your old stress toys? Hand them over.

This sweet boy is all about loyalty. He wants to please, stay close, and be your shadow. He’s been treated for heartworm, so it’s important that his future family continues with year-round prevention (about $10/month) and keeps up with annual heartworm tests, just part of being a responsible dog parent.

If you're looking for a steady, sweet, funny, and slightly ridiculous best friend who’s already been through the worst and still chooses love? Kevlar’s your guy.

? Adoption Fee: $400 + tax (Checks? Nope. We like it digital.)

? Questions? Reach out to his foster at tschlax@gmail.com

---

Kevlar’s not perfect but he’s perfect for someone. Especially someone who doesn’t mind a little drool, a lot of loyalty, and a trail of shredded tennis balls.

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home.

Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
