Kerry's Story

Meet Kerry

Kerry is a beautiful 5-year-old German Shepherd who truly embodies the intelligence, loyalty, and heart this breed is known for. She was surrendered through no fault of her own-her previous owners loved her deeply but recognized that with both of them working full-time, Kerry wasn't getting the engagement, structure, and attention she deserves. Wanting the best for her, they made the selfless decision to help her find a home better suited to her needs.

Kerry has lived indoors and is wonderfully well-mannered. She is house trained, crate trained, and she knows several commands including sit, down, stay, heel, come, and out.

Socially, Kerry is a sweetheart. She is fantastic with kids, incredibly gentle (even with babies), and does great with new people and other dogs. She's often the type to roll right onto her back for belly rubs shortly after meeting someone new.
It is important to note that Kerry does have a high prey drive and has shown strong interest in chasing cats and other small animals. Because of this, Kerry will do best in a home without cats or small pets, or with an experienced handler who can safely and responsibly manage this behavior.

Kerry is a working-line German Shepherd, and this is critical to understand. She is not a low-energy dog and will not thrive without purpose, structure, and routine. She is not an apartment dog. She is not a dog to be left outside to entertain herself. She is not a beginner dog, nor will she benefit being treated like a casual pet.

Kerry must have:
- A consistent daily routine
- Significant physical exercise
- Ongoing training
- Mental enrichment and purposeful engagement

Without these things, Kerry will create her own outlet-and it likely won't be one you enjoy. This isn't a behavioral flaw; it's simply the nature of a driven, intelligent working dog.

Kerry has already experienced too much transition in her life. We are committed to making sure her next home is her forever home. We ask that potential adopters do their research, be honest about their lifestyle, and come prepared with a solid plan for exercise, training, and enrichment.

For the right, committed home, Kerry will be an exceptional, loyal, and deeply rewarding companion. We are hopeful her perfect match is out there.
