KENDI**'s Story
NOTES FROM MY FOSTER: When Kendi first came into foster care, he was noticeably underweight and is currently heartworm positive. He has now safely gained weight, is receiving proper care, and has shown how resilient and gentle he truly is. Despite his rough start, Kendi is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog. Once he feels comfortable, he loves to cuddle and be close to his people. He can be a bit shy at first and prefers to approach new people on his own rather than being approached right away. Allowing him that space helps him build trust, and once he does, his loving personality really shines. While he enjoys his calm cuddle time, he also has playful, energetic moments where his fun personality comes out. He likes to move around, explore, and engage, especially once he’s feeling more confident, making him a nice balance of affectionate and active. He is currently working on housetraining and is making steady progress with consistency and routine. He responds well to patience and positive reinforcement and seems eager to please. Overall, Kendi is a gentle, loving dog who would thrive in a home that can offer patience, structure, and continued care. In return, he brings sweetness, playful energy, and plenty of cuddles once he feels safe. In North Carolina, it's unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. With your support, OCAS can help more dogs with this disease - resulting in healthier dogs that are even more likely to get adopted. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign .
