HELP! KASH NEEDS A FOSTER HOME! This handsome guy is not adjusting well to shelter life and really needs a foster home. Read below for more info.

Date of birth: 7/9/2010

6/7/2018: Kash is a big handsome American Bulldog with the most adorable expressions! He’s 7 years old and weighed a healthy 80 lbs when he arrived. Sadly, the family who’s had him since he was a young pup had to give him up because they had to move and could not find low-cost housing that would allow a dog his size and breed. He’s been an indoor dog and is house trained. Kash is a super sweet guy, but he’s having trouble adjusting to being in a shelter environment and he’s showing signs of anxiety. He's also lost a lot of weight. We’d really like to place Kash into a foster home, or a foster-to-adopt home as soon as possible. He had not been socialized with dogs or cats previously, so he does need a home where he would be the only pet.

Kash spent a weekend with one of our volunteers and did really well. He loved going for a ride (and he LOVEs baths, too, btw), and he was super excited to be in a home again. He was quiet in his kennel overnight and he didn’t make a mess in the house. He loved being able to play in a home.

Kash is very friendly and goofy with most people. However, he has been unsure and nervous in some instances when meeting someone new. We don’t know if this is shelter related only or something he may experience in a home environment as well. He will need a foster home with someone who has appropriate dog experience to care for a large dog who may have some social behavior issues. He would not be a good match if this will be your first dog as an adult, or if you have children in the home.

Kash has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. And he’s been great about letting our veterinarians and staff do any veterinary procedures on him without any trouble at all. If you may be able to provide this big sweet guy with a foster home, please contact Christine at 913.596.1000 ext 113 or email christine@hsgkc.org. We’d love to tell you more about him!

MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...

Please visit our web site at HSGKC.ORG for more information about our adoption process, our adoption fees and all that's included, and for a pet adoption application.

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. We encourage you to fill out an online adoption application and submit it before you come to see us. This helps us process your application more quickly and we can schedule an appointment for you to come in so that our small staff can serve you best. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of the pets you meet, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the pet home with you that day. We’ll instead schedule a pick up date and time that’s convenient for you.

> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

Thank you for searching for a shelter pet!
