Kansas's Story
Meet Kansas

Some dogs come into rescue with stories that break your heart, and then they spend every day proving just how resilient they truly are. Kansas is one of those dogs.

Kansas is a beautiful six-month-old German Shepherd mix who has already overcome more than most dogs will experience in a lifetime. She arrived from a high-kill shelter after a kind passerby spotted her running down the highway, terrified and completely covered in motor oil. The oil had caused severe chemical burns over much of her body, leaving her in excruciating pain.

Her road to recovery wasn't easy. For weeks, she received medicated baths every single day, strong antibiotics, and endless love and patience while we waited and hoped for signs of healing. Slowly but surely, her beautiful coat began to grow back, her wounds healed, and her joyful spirit started to shine.

Today, Kansas is thriving.

She weighs approximately 41 pounds and is up-to-date on all vaccines and preventatives, has been spayed, and is ready to find the family she's always deserved.

Kansas is everything you could hope for in a young German Shepherd mix. She absolutely adores other dogs, is wonderful with children, walks beautifully on a leash, and approaches the world with endless curiosity and excitement. She has the sweetest, most loving personality and a heart as big as they come. She simply wants to be wherever her people are, soaking up affection and giving it right back.

She is also doing wonderfully with crate training and has had no accidents in her crate.

Kansas has already survived the hardest chapter of her life. Now she's ready for the best one—a forever home filled with love, safety, and people who will cherish the incredible dog she has become.

If you're looking for a loyal, intelligent, affectionate companion with an incredible story of resilience, Kansas is waiting to meet you. . She will need ongoing puppy training, manners and socialization. Her $500 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, spay, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. She is now in NY.
