I'm a gorgeous, spunky chocolate lab who is looking for a family to call mine and who will love me forever and ever. My journey for a family started when I was purchased from a breeder at 8 weeks old and then returned the same day when they realized I was blind and had a seizure. The breeder then brought me to a vet office to be euthanized! Well, luckily they were super nice and one of the techs said 'no way!' She took me in for a few months to get me healthy and then reached out to Speak who was happy to take me in.

Speak got me tons of specialized testing and vet care and found out I have an unknown seizure disorder and congenital optic nerve hypoplasia. In normal people words, that means I was born blind and unfortunately there's no treatment for this but I've never known any different and this condition should never cause me any additional problems in the future. I eat a special food and also take multiple medications to help with my seizures. I will need a family who has a close relationship with my veterinarian and understands that I am a special needs pup who will require frequent check ups and unique medical care lifelong. My new family would ideally have a history of caring for special-needs pets.

I happily live with cats and dogs and do very well with everyone. I'm a young, silly girl and so I run into things a lot including my foster siblings but I always respond immediately when they "politely" ask that I not step on their tails. I don't bother our kitties; since I can't see them I'm not even sure if I know they're there. I'm blind, so I march really cutely when I walk to 'map' the area and am known to be a bit of a klutz. I need close monitoring when I am out of my kennel because I don't always realize that the things I find aren't for puppers.

I love to meet people and am the most friendly little pup you've ever met but because of my mouth-for-eyes I probably wouldn't do well with a family with children. I would do best with a family who is home frequently to keep an eye on me and keep my puppy brain entertained. I would love some very tolerant fur friends/siblings to help guide and teach me things and who love to wrestle! I do well in my crate and love to run circles or play with toys in the backyard. I'm working on leash walking but am doing okay with a 2 clip harness to help direct me. Like any good Labrador, I LOVE FOOD and food puzzle toys (Kongs, snuffle mats, wobble balls). If you're looking for an amazing, jumping, hilarious, special little pup I'm your girl! I promise to make you smile every day and love you forever.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please review our adoption policies and apply online at [www.speakfortheunspoken.com/adopt](http://www.speakfortheunspoken.com/adopt).

Visit [www.speakfortheunspoken.com](http://www.speakfortheunspoken.com/) will give you more information about our rescue.

***PLEASE READ*** WE DO NOT RESPOND TO PETFINDER OR EMAIL INQUIRIES. Speak for the Unspoken's Adoption Policy
Before completing our online application please read the following: Our adoption process involves multiple steps and it typically takes up to 2 weeks from the time we receive your application to the time your adoption is finalized. We reserve the right to deny any application without explanation. All of our dogs and/or puppies are in foster homes. We do not schedule “Meet and Greets” without an approved application. Our Adoption Fees start at $325 per dog, $75 per cat or kitten. We can adopt an animal ‘out of state’, but you must be willing to travel to where the pet is being fostered, and transport the animal yourself after the adoption. If you have other animals (dogs/cats) in your home, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention (dogs), and spayed/neutered. We will verify this with your veterinarian. If your animals are not up to date, your application will be denied. Please make sure to fully complete your application; leaving questions blank or not including all requested information will delay your application. Once your online application is submitted, it can take our volunteers 5 to 7 business days to process it. If we have questions about your application, we will email you. Please make sure to add our email, adopt@speakfortheunspoken.com to your email so our messages do not end up in your spam folder! Once your application is approved by the processors, it is sent to the person fostering the dog you have applied for. They will make the decision on whether the animal that you applied for is the right fit for you and your home. They may also choose to initially contact you via email or phone. If you do not respond promptly to their email or phone call, they will move on to the next applicant. Your application will be saved on file for 1 year and will be used for all dogs you would be interested in that time-frame. No need to keep filling out applications! Adoption application approval means you are approved to adopt an animal from us, it does not mean you are necessarily approved for the animal you applied for. There may be specific circumstances in your home that do not make it a good fit for one animal, but it may be a fine fit for another.
