Kane

Kane is about 7-8 years old and has been patiently waiting with us for quite some time. On the surface, he checks all the classic dog boxes: he's never met a treat he didn't like (except broccoli... we're still not sold on that one), he loves leisurely walks where he can stop and sniff absolutely everything, he enjoys rolling in the grass, soaking up the sunshine, and chasing a soccer ball as fast as his chunky little butt will carry him.<br/><br/>But Kane is far from an ordinary dog. What some people mistake for stubbornness is actually what our trainer calls intelligent disobedience. Kane is a thinker. He knows the routine, he knows our tricks, and he's usually one step ahead. If he's outside and not quite ready to come in, don't worry - he already knows someone will eventually show up with treats to negotiate. Honestly, there are moments we're convinced he's just a person living in a dog's body.<br/><br/>After undergoing two ACL repair surgeries, Kane earned himself recovery accommodations in one of the coziest rooms in the shelter - the Shelter Operations Manager's office. He enjoyed the VIP lifestyle so much that the rest of the shelter simply doesn't meet his standards anymore. During his office era, staff quickly learned that Kane specializes in delivering the wettest kisses imaginable, staying close to his favorite people, and expertly convincing humans to hand over extra snacks (he's very persuasive).<br/><br/>Beneath his goofy charm is an incredibly loving, affectionate, and deeply loyal dog. Kane bonds closely with his people and while he may take a little time to build trust, once you're in his circle, you're his forever. He thrives on companionship and would do best as the only pet in a home where someone is around to keep him company and appreciate all the love he has to give.<br/><br/>Kane isn't just looking for a home - he's looking for his person. And if you give him your loyalty, he promises to return it tenfold, along with endless cuddles, laughter, and a lifetime of unforgettable moments.
