The blocky head. The otter tail that clears a coffee table in one pass. The eyes that follow a sandwich across a room with the focus of an air traffic controller. The full, unshakable Labrador conviction that whatever you are doing right now would be improved by her participation. All of it, present and accounted for, in a dog who weighs thirty five pounds.</p><br/><br/><p dir="ltr">Here is what she is like to live with.</p><br/><br/><p dir="ltr">She likes other dogs, immediately and without conditions. She likes cats, which is not something most labs can put on a rsum. She has not had an accident in the house. She sleeps in her crate without complaint. She is spayed and she is done with all of that.</p><br/><br/><p dir="ltr">She wants to be where you are. Not near you, not in the same general area, with you. If you get up she will get up. If you sit down she will reappraise the situation and sit down too, ideally on some portion of your foot. She is thirty five pounds, so this is a charming quality rather than a structural concern.</p><br/><br/><p dir="ltr">And she has energy, real energy, the kind that needs somewhere to go. She is ten months old and built for work she does not currently have. Give her a long walk, a hike, a ball, a puzzle feeder, a job of any kind, and you get a delightful dog. Skip it, and you get a delightful dog who has started editing your shoes. Labs are not subtle about this. Kamala least of all.</p><br/><br/><p dir="ltr">Older kids suit her. She is friendly and soft with people and she has no meanness in her anywhere, but she moves fast and she gets excited, and a household with room for that will get the best of her.</p><br/><br/><p dir="ltr">What you are getting, in the end, is the entire Labrador experience compressed into a dog you can carry up a flight of stairs. The loyalty. The absurd optimism. The certainty that today is going to be excellent.
