Thank you!<br/><br/>Kala is a 5 year old, 22 pound female Shih Tzu/Bichon mix. She is a gorgeous caramel color and has beautiful long eye lashes. She came into rescue because her owner moved into an apartment which didn’t allow dogs.<br/><br/>Kala enjoys going for walks and usually walks about a mile per day. She is very friendly and respectfully greets people and other dogs while on walks. She will sometimes play fetch with a ball or tug a war with one of her toys. She does like exercise, and runs outside to chase the resident rabbits and squirrels around the yard. A secure, fenced yard would be ideal for her.<br/><br/>Kala is very sweet, well behaved, housetrained, and knows a few commands such as “sit” and “down”. She loves being with her foster parents and other people and will sit on your lap at every opportunity. She is good around other dogs and children, and would be a wonderful family dog. A family with older children who know how to engage with a small dog will be considered. Kala does require someone be at home with her the majority of the time and who will include her in their daily activities. She rides well in the car, and likes looking out the window, so hopefully her family will take her with them when appropriate. She likes nothing better than to be with her people, and that includes sleeping with them in their bed.<br/><br/>These are the requirements for Kala’s new family:<br/><br/>1. Be home much of the day and include Kala in their daily activities.<br/><br/>2. A fenced yard would be wonderful, but is not a deal breaker, especially if Kala will be taken on long walks every day. She must have daily exercise to be happy.<br/><br/>3. A family with older, respectful children will be considered.<br/><br/>4. Live within 30 miles of Inver Grove Heights, MN.<br/><br/>5. Try to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year.<br/><br/>Kala is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She has a history of urinary tract infections, which can recur, so her family must recognize the signs of an infection and have it treated immediately.<br/><br/>Kala’s adoption fee is $370.00 plus $33.39 sales tax for a total fee of $403.39. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at the Southtown PetCo in Bloomington, MN.
