Physical Characteristics:<br/>Kai is a 5 1/2 yr old German Shepherd mix, born February 4, 2017. He is brown and tan, neutered, and weighs in at 90 pounds. He is beautiful, gentle, and loving,<br/><br/>When Kai was 2 ½ yrs old, his leash got caught on his back leg and injured his knee. He had ACL surgery on his hind left leg and with regular exercise and supplements for arthritis in the knee, it is difficult to even notice. Kai loves his daily walks, adventures at the park, play sessions with his foster fur brother and looks forward to any new adventures. However, Kai will not be running any marathons since running or intense exercise is not recommended.<br/><br/>He is up to date with all of his vaccines and enjoys good health He does have seasonal allergies which are easily controlled with medication, particularly during the month of August. <br/><br/><br/>KNOWN HISTORY:<br/><br/>His family: <br/>Kai was adopted as a puppy and was blessed to grow up with a family that adored him - a loving mom, and two young teenagers that showered him with love, exercise, play, great food and medical care. His biological brother lived in the home across from him, and they were great friends. <br/><br/>Tragedy struck the family in 2021 when the mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Prior to her passing in August 2022, she made it a priority to ensure that Kai was placed in good care.<br/><br/><br/>Personality and Characteristics:<br/>Kai loves his human family and all humans. He is very well behaved and welcomes them home with a happy song. He loves to be with his family and happily participates in walking in the yard with you, staying nearby as you garden, playing with his toys. He loves his walks, loves car rides, and loves to accompany you on all outings. <br/><br/>Kai was raised as the only dog in the home and is used to being left alone for a few hours daily. He has adjusted well to being home alone with his fur brother in his current foster home, and is not at all destructive during his time alone. He can be vocal when you first leave and when you arrive back home, but will rest peacefully and wait for you in between. <br/><br/>Kai was previously attacked on a few occasions in dog parks, and now responds more readily to slow and calm introductions with new dogs. Whilst he enjoys the company of his foster brother, he would be more than happy to be the only dog again. He also shares his current family part time with an older golden retriever. <br/><br/>Kai has adjusted beautifully to his two fur foster siblings and has adjusted quickly to sharing his toys and foster family. Overall, he is very playful, loving and cuddly with his younger energetic fur foster brother, and very respectful of his older fur foster sister.<br/><br/><br/>Kai's Ideal Family:<br/>Kai would love nothing more than a family that can spend most of their time with him. Being medium energy, he enjoys his daily walks, cuddling on the couch and the bed, where he will settle and not move all night. Did we mention he just loves being with his family? He also loves going on different outings. His foster mom takes him exploring different parks where he enjoys dissecting different smells, walking and generally loving being outdoors. Kai is fully house trained and will sleep in with you, patiently waiting until you are ready to get up and start your day. <br/><br/>With all that Kai has been through in the past few months, he has adjusted beautifully to his foster home and family.
