Kadi's Story

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or North Central Texas area.

NAME: Kadi
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 3 years
WEIGHT: About 12 pounds (Ideal Weight is 8 Pounds)
DOGS/CATS: Gets along with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Should be fine with older, mature children (10 and older)

Introducing adorable Kadi. This girl has a gentle and loving spirit and is looking for a forever family to share her life with.

Kadi was originally adopted from the Irving Animal Shelter (where she had been found as a stray, and no family came looking for her). The family who adopted her had another small dog and unfortunately that dog did not like Kadi. She picked on Kadi day and night. So the family reached out to CRT and asked if we could bring Kadi into our program to find her a loving forever home. This is a sweet girl and we are happy to have her.

Kadi adores her family. She craves human love and affection. Kadi loves her foster Dad the most (but doesn’t want you to tell her foster Mom – LOL). When her foster Dad comes home from work, Kadi meets him at the door and is literally jumping up and down with excitement! Oh this is so sweet to see. Kadi definitely identifies as a lap dog. She loves to be in a lap most of all, but she will lie down near her people and nap on the floor at their feet or in a dog bed while they work. You’ll never find a dog who looks more adoringly at you than Kadi! Kadi is a little shy when she meets new people and will bark to let you know a new person has arrived. But she settles down quickly once she knows everything is ok and that everyone in the home is safe.

We believe Kadi would do well as the only dog in the home so she could get all the love and attention! She does ok with the other dogs in her foster home, but typically ignores them. She does do an occasional zoomie run with them, but then she is back to just hanging with her humans. Kadi loves being in the backyard. She loves loves LOVES the sun and will lay for hours to sun herself. If you love to garden, Kadi will hang outside with you and supervise.

Kadi is adorable in all aspects and wants to be your best friend! Kadi has an outgoing personality. Her tail is constantly wagging and she is so happy to be around you. She loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, she wants to be a part of it.

Our vet estimates that Kadi is about 3 years old. She currently weighs about 12 pounds and is a little “fluffy” (IE overweight). Our vet would like to see her closer to 8 pounds, so we have her on a weight loss program where we are measuring her food and being diligent with treats. Warning – you will need to be strong. She will stand on her back legs and dance for treats. So we set aside some of her measured kibble each day for treats – lol. We would like a new family to be mindful of her ideal weight so that she grows up to be a healthy little girl. Kadi has a beautiful black and tan coat. And we love her ears. She is so cute.

Kadi has done great with her potty training. She knows how to go potty outside and is patient about waiting for her potty breaks. She is crate trained and will sleep quietly through the night in her crate. Kadi also will walk well on a harness and leash. We have been taking her on daily walks to help with her weight loss and hope her new family will continue to do this.

The ideal home for Kadi would be one with moderate energy. She would love to be an only dog so she could have you to herself, but she would do well with another small dog too. Kadi needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). She does bark at strange noises, so we do not think she would do well in an apartment environment. There are no children in her foster home, but she is a friendly little girl. She has enjoyed meeting children at our “meet and greets” and we think she would do well with older, mature children (10 and older).

Kadi is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. If this sweet girl sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ Note: it works best when our application is filled out on a computer versus a phone or tablet. When the application submits correctly, the system will send you a copy. If you do not receive a copy into your email que, it did not submit. Feel free to email us at DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you need help with the application.

Kadi is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $300.00 adoption donation required.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
