Juno's Story

Juno came from a very bad situation where she was left to her own defenses, medical needs were not met and neglected her whole life. Luckily, Animal Control stepped in and seized over 25 dogs off the property where Juno came from. It was immediately clear she had two skin infections, double ear infection, broken teeth, and demodex mange. She was also heartworm positive. She had a very hard time trusting humans, but has been sweet, cooperative, and gentle the entire process. She allowed our vets to examine her and treats her without growling, fighting, or biting. She is truly just a lost soul, who wants to be loved so badly. Because she was kept outside, she did not receive the one-on-one human attention dogs need to thrive. This led to a life of isolation. She is getting used to comfortable dog beds, treats, being inside and enjoying life as a companion rather than a forgotten about dog.

Juno is being treated for all of the medical ailments we have discovered since her arrival. She still has a long way to go, but having a home waiting for her at the end of all this would be the ultimate happy ending for her! She’s okay with other dogs but does not like them in her face. She prefers them quieter and calmer. Ideally, she would be the center of attention as an only dog. She has fought for years amongst 35+ other dogs, can you blame her? She ignored the cats (we don't think she has ever seen one). She is very mellow, quiet, and crate trained. She prefers a place that she can hide when she is overwhelmed. She will start to follow you around when she starts to trust you. It's clear she is looking for someone to claim as her go-to human.

All in all, Juno is a wonderful girl. She is what we would consider a "project pup" which means it will take time to get her to trust you and build her confidence. She has been through A LOT these past couple months.
To adopt or foster Juno, please submit an application

https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/66b189c45d6f9afa2c07afb8/68d8ac128c24101ee40855ca
