Jules's Story

Jules is a 6-month old German Shepherd puppy with a heart full of love and a happy, wagging tail ready for adventure. She was surrendered by her previous owners after being diagnosed with megaesophagus when she was 12-weeks old, and is now searching for a forever family who can see her for the amazing companion she is. She would do best in a home with a set routine since her condition is well-managed with a structured one!

Megaesophagus is a condition in which the esophagus is enlarged and has reduced muscle function, making it difficult for food and water to move normally into the stomach. To manage this condition, Jules must be fed in an upright position using a Bailey chair and kept upright for about 20 minutes after eating to allow gravity to assist with digestion. While megaesophagus requires a committed feeding schedule and monitoring for signs of regurgitation or aspiration, many dogs with this condition live full and happy lives with proper care.

Despite her condition, Jules is thriving in her foster home. She’s curious, affectionate, and learning more about the world every day. Jules enjoys her toys, neighborhood walks, and playtime with her doggy friends. She would do best in a home with other dogs she can play to her heart's content. She does currently live with cats but her puppy enthusiasm can be a bit much for the shy ones. She also did previously live with a toddler, but has not had much experience with younger children since.

Jules is looking for a loving, patient home that will support her special needs and give her the time to grow into the incredible dog she’s meant to be. In return, she’ll give you unconditional love, endless tail wags, and a lifetime of loyalty!
