Judge is a handsome male pit bull around 4 years old who is looking for a patient, understanding home where he can truly settle in and be himself. He is still learning how to relax and feel safe in new environments, and he will need adopters who are willing to give him the time and consistency he deserves. Judge is currently on behavioral medications to help manage his anxiety, and they have been beneficial for him. With structure, routine, and positive reinforcement, Judge continues to make progress each day. When it comes to other dogs, Judge has not done well with dogs larger than himself and would prefer to be the only dog in the home for now. He has done better with smaller dogs, and if there is another dog in the home, very slow and careful introductions would be necessary. Judge has so much potential and will thrive with someone who believes in him and is willing to go at his pace. In the right home, he has the ability to blossom into a loyal and loving companion

Powhatan Sheriff's Office - Animal Control's Adoption Policy

Apon having interest in adopting an animal from our shelter, you can call or come between 9am and 4pm to meet the animal you are interested in. If after meeting said animal, you are still interested, you will begin the application process. You will be asked to fill out an application and we will need a copy of a valid driver's license or ID. If you have other dogs, they will need to come in to do a meet and greet. We recommend bringing your dog(s) after you have come by yourself to meet the animal. The staff here at the shelter will review your application and you will either be approved or not approved. If approved, you will be able to come and pick up your new family member! If you have other dogs, we recommend coming to pick up your new pet alone, without your other animals.
