Joyce's Story

Joyce is a beautiful girl but life hasn't always been easy for her. She ended up in a shelter from a home with multiple other dogs and while we do not really know what that home was like our girl came out of it with walls up. She is unsure of strangers and does not give her trust right away. Once someone has given her a chance, been properly introduced, and allowed her to realize they mean her no harm she does seem to warm up well. However once you are in with her you are IN and she is a sweet loving lady.

Even though she has lived with other dogs in the past she does not seem to be a fan of them and does have some leash reactivity issues. We do not think she would be a good fit in a home with cats. We think she would do best in a home where she is the only pet, that is either adults only or if there are children they are older dog savvy children only.

She is really smart gal is is learning to sit and seems to already be housebroken. When she is with her human friends she loves belly rubs, running with toys, playing tug. She is not great at fetch but she does like her toys being thrown for her to chase.

Joyce is around 1 year old as of 1/19/26.

If you would like to meet this special dog, please email dogs@lunashouse.org to get more information. Or you can complete an adoption application which is linked on the main adoptable dogs page on the website. Please be patient to hear from us as we are all volunteers and may not be able to respond immediately.

Our volunteers make sure just the right home is chosen so they require a home visit to make sure there are no safety issues. You must live within a 50 mile radius of our location in order to be considered.

The adoption fee is $250 and includes vaccines, flea prevention treatment, neuter/spay, and micro chipping. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each dog based on personality and temperament, not breed label.
