Joy's Story

Joy’s name says it all — she’s the light that came out of a hard place. She and her sister were living in a homeless encampment, surviving the best they could with no one to call their own. When we met them, it was clear they weren’t anyone’s dogs — just two young girls trying to stay safe and find a little kindness in the world.

We brought them in, got them both spayed, vaccinated, and ready for a fresh start. They are about a year old, Joy has blossomed into a sweet, gentle, and affectionate young dog. She’s a little shy at first, but once she feels secure, her loving nature shines through.

Joy would thrive in a home where her person is home often and can give her consistent companionship and reassurance. She loves other dogs and would do best having a friendly canine companion. We haven’t seen her around cats, so her reaction is uncertain.

So far, Joy has lived mostly outdoors, so she may need some guidance and patience with potty training as she adjusts to home life.

Joy hasn’t been tested with children, but we don’t foresee any issues with calm, respectful kids aged seven and up. Her gentle temperament and kind eyes tell us she simply wants to feel safe and loved.

After everything she’s been through, Joy deserves a home where she’ll never have to worry again — a family who will give her the time, patience, and love she’s been waiting for.
