JOY's Story

Meet Joy — the shy black Labrador who’s THIS close to becoming your new best friend... she’s just double-checking that the world is safe first. Shelter life has been a little overwhelming for this sweet girl, but every day she lets her guard down a tiny bit more — and that’s when her goofy, wiggly, silly side peeks out. Her secret ? She bonded with her kennel mate and suddenly boom... there it was: JOY in full bloom.

Joy is the kind of dog who won’t rush into a relationship — she’s more of a “let’s get coffee first” type. But once she connects ? Oh, she’ll love you with her whole heart, and you’ll wonder how you ever lived without this beautiful black Lab shadowing your every move. Give her patience, kindness, and a little time... and Joy will give you everything she’s got. Come meet this quiet sweetheart and watch her shine. One look into those soft eyes and—sorry—your heart doesn’t stand a chance :)

Joy recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine. She wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as she gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, she’ll be ready to show us her silly side with other dogs. She's currently sharing her shelter suite with a friend she met at the shelter. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out her playgroup video here:

To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm.
