Jovie's Story

Meet Jovie!Smiling’s her favorite—and belly rubs are a close second!

Female | 4 months old | 10lbs | UTD on shots | Mix breed - Manitoba Designer Mutt | Good with kids and dogs | Currently being fostered in Toronto

Background

Jovie was rescued from a Northern Community in Manitoba with help from our rescue partners at K9 Advocacy Manitoba. She took her freedom flight to Toronto in November and has settled so well into her foster home and is ready to find her furever family.

Personality

Jovie is almost 4 months old and is a happy, outgoing, and affectionate puppy with a moderate energy level. She loves meeting new people and greets everyone with a wagging tail and relaxed, friendly energy. Jovie is playful and goofy—especially during her nightly zoomies around 8 pm—but she also settles beautifully and is an expert napper. If she trusts you, she’ll happily roll over for belly rubs and soak up all the love. She’s kind, social, and thrives on attention and closeness with her people.

Ideal Home

Jovie would do best in a home where someone is around for much of the day and can give her the companionship and affection she craves. She would not thrive in a home where she is crated for long workdays or overnight without interaction. A fenced yard would be ideal, as she enjoys outdoor time, play, and exploring. She would be a wonderful companion for a solo adopter or family with older children, as she can get a little mouthy when playing (typical playful puppy behavior). Jovie is happiest when she doesn’t have to compete for attention and can be fully included in daily life—and she makes the perfect cuddle buddy for movie nights.

Training & Activity

Jovie is already doing amazingly well for her age. She is house-trained and lets her people know when she needs to go outside. She knows sit, go to bed, come, and is learning shake a paw, along with great food-bowl manners. She walks nicely on leash, with occasional pulling as she gets close to home, and is not reactive to other dogs she sees on walks. Crate-trained and sleeping soundly through the night (with soft jazz playing!), Jovie settles well after short periods alone. She needs about 30–60 minutes of daily activity, including walks, playtime, and enrichment. Like many puppies, she can get nippy during high-energy play, but redirects well to toys. With continued guidance, routine, and affection, Jovie is going to grow into a truly wonderful companion.

Summary

Jovie is a sweetheart with a fun, loving personality and the perfect mix of playfulness and cuddles. Outgoing and social, she adores people, belly rubs, and being included in everyday life, but also settles well after playtime. Jovie would thrive in a home where she gets plenty of companionship, affection, and daily activity—and she’ll happily return it with nonstop love and laughs

**NOTE** All adoption applicants must be residents of Ontario, Canada to be considered.

Apply here to Adopt
http://seapawsrescue.org/adoptionApplication.html
