Journey's Story

This little red head has had quite the journey (which is how she got her name)! Abandoned in rural Utah, Journey spent several weeks along the interstate alluding good Samaritans who tried to catch her. Once caught and taken to the local shelter, poor Journey spent several more weeks cowering in the corner of her kennel growling and barking at anyone who came near. She was just so frightened! Finally, a shelter worker gained her trust and Journey's fun and playful personality came out. Journey is still wary of people she doesn't know; but she warms up very quickly (typically 5 minutes or less). She prefers women to men and is not tolerant of children (particularly small/young children). Journey is Herding Haven's longest resident in foster care, having been with us now for 7 years. Journey is estimated to be 9-10 yr old. now. She is good with male dogs (with a proper introduction) and is selective when it comes to female canines. . Journey is house-broken, crate-trained and walks well on a leash. She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting Journey, please respond to this post or contact kathie@herdinghaven.

Our Mission
Herding Haven rescues herding dogs from shelters where they have been deemed "unadaptable" due to physical, medical or behavioral issues (or sometimes just because the shelter is out of space). We place them in foster homes, rehabilitate them and then find them "forever" homes.
