Josie's Story

Josie has lived with both cats and dogs in the past, and while she has always been a shy girl, she has shown that she can open up and even become playful with other dogs once she feels safe. Since arriving at the shelter, she has been very timid and unsure, but we've been taking things at her pace – and it's working. With patience, gentle encouragement, and plenty of space, Josie has slowly started to warm up and show us glimpses of her sweet, sensitive personality. She prefers to come to people on her own terms, and each small step she takes is a big, brave victory.

Josie will need a quiet, understanding home with people who are familiar with fearful or shy dogs and are committed to moving at her pace. She'll thrive with patience, gentle reassurance, and the freedom to build trust in her own time. Because new environments can be overwhelming for her, Josie will likely need multiple visits with her future family before she feels comfortable enough to go home. With kindness, consistency, and lots of love, Josie has the potential to truly blossom – she just needs someone willing to give her the time and understanding she deserves.

Behavior Disclaimer: Behavior and personality assessment is based on information provided by previous owner(s) and/or observations in a shelter environment and may not accurately reflect the pet's behavior in your home
