Josie's Story

Little Josie has a big heeler personality wrapped up in a small package. She's looking for an active, heeler-experienced adopter to give her the life she craves and deserves.

In many ways, Josie is your stereotypical heeler. She's a busy dog, always on the go and ready to do a job. She likes to herd people and other dogs and will nip heels. In appropriate weather, Josie will jog tethered alongside a bicycle, then she comes home ready for even more games. She loves to catch her soft Frisbee but hasn't quite mastered bringing it back!

Josie is a bit of a pushy dog but responds to commands and respects consistent boundaries. She sleeps and eats in her crate without an issue.

Her heeler-savvy adopter must be active and ready for an athletic, smart, busy dog. Couch potatoes won't be a good match for Josie. Ready to hike, bike, run, do dog sports? Josie is your gal. She needs a dog parent to give her boundaries and guidance. Because she's a nipper and can protect her food, we'd like to match Josie in a home without small children. And so far, it seems Josie gets car sick, so she won't be able to be your road dog without more desensitization in the car.

She's still a youngster at 11 months old. Josie weighs just under 30 pounds and has a long, natural tail. Josie is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworms and is taking heartworm prevention.

Thanks for considering a dog from Texas Cattle Dog Rescue! We place heelers all over the state of Texas.

If you're interested in one of our dogs, please first complete our adoption application. You can download it at www.texascattledogrescue.com/adopt.html.

Our adoption fees: puppies under one year old $350; adults 1-7 years old $300; seniors 8+ years old $150; seniors for seniors 8+ years old, adopters 60+ $100.
