Jojo (Special Needs)'s Story

Meet JoJo – Looking for Her Unicorn

JoJo is a beautiful, sensitive soul with a gentle heart and a feral past. Brought up from Mexico, JoJo missed the critical early socialization puppies typically get—so she’s learned the world in her own time and on her own terms. And while her journey hasn’t been easy, she’s made huge strides and completely adores the volunteers and staff she trusts.

JoJo is playful with other dogs, loves going on walks, and has a true passion for digging the perfect hole. (What can we say? She’s got goals.) She does best in a calm, structured environment where routines are consistent and people understand that building trust takes time and intention.

She’s not a fit for a busy household or one with lots of visitors, kids, or chaos. But for the right person—someone who sees her as the diamond she is—JoJo will be a deeply rewarding companion. She’s excellent in her crate and thrives with enrichment, so when guests are over, she’s more than happy to relax in her own space.

JoJo doesn’t need perfection. She needs predictability, patience, and someone who truly gets her.

Age: Young adult

Breed: Mexi mix

Ideal home: Adult-only, low-traffic household, predictable routine, dog-savvy adopter

Bonus: Will dig you a custom backyard art installation

Jojo is considered special needs because she will require a very diligent home, where there will me minimal surprises as she does not handle them well.
We would like to see Jojo go to a home who is dedicated to continued, positive reinforcement training so she can be more comfortable in our human society. Jojo comes with a complimentary consultation with local dog trainer Sierra from Aligned Canines.

After submitting the application below, someone will contact you to set up a meet and greet appointment. Please be patient as we are short staffed but very eager to get our pups meeting their potential future families!

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScLeE8iTiwE2zdkYUMyHKNJ2_HioHVdrXp40_0FM6jL9m6bTw/viewform
