Johnny Cash's Story

Johnny came into the South LA Shelter at about six weeks old with his sister June. He arrived covered in fleas and missing patches of hair on his arms and legs, and he had a little naked rat tail. His coat has been growing in beautifully, and his tail is no longer bare.

Johnny is a sweet and very playful boy who loves belly rubs and wants to follow you everywhere. He has the cutest little howl when he wants your attention, and he is always ready for love. His coat is a mix of grey with touches of white, brown, and blonde that look like natural highlights. He truly looks like a tiny wolf.

While his bigger sister June has always been the bold one, Johnny is the cuddly baby of the pair. He loves staring at you with his big adoring eyes and soaking up all the affection he can get. He may be a little timid at first, but he warms up quickly once he feels safe.

Johnny recently had bilateral FHO (femoral head ostectomy) surgery and is recovering beautifully thanks to the wonderful care of his fosters. He is walking and playing comfortably, but he will need a home that continues to provide gentle activity and avoids high-impact exercise while he fully strengthens. Supplements such as glucosamine, chondroitin, or omega-3s can be very helpful to support joint health and mobility.

He has been in a home with both big and small dogs, although he has never met a cat. Johnny is a loving little boy who is ready to find his person and a forever home where he can keep blossoming.

You can apply for him at ghettorescue.org.
