Johnny's Story

Meet Jonny

Jonny is a 2-year-old, ~60-lb fuzzy brindle goofball who's finally getting his chance after spending 131 days in the NYC shelter system. A former staff favorite, Jonny wins people over fast with his affectionate, goofy personality and confident approach to the world.

Jonny is fantastic in the city — loud trucks, honking cars, hallway noise, and everyday chaos don't faze him. He's an excellent leash walker and a great running buddy, happily exploring his surroundings while offering the occasional check-in. He passes other dogs calmly and is neutral but friendly on walks, making him well-suited for urban life.

At home, Jonny is a dream when it comes to routine. He is fully house-trained and has consistently pottied outside since leaving the shelter. Jonny boy is fully crate trained and is comfortable being left alone for extended periods, relaxing in his crate, napping, and enjoying chews. He LOVES his crate and has been successfully left alone for up to 8 hours and settles beautifully!

Jonny enjoys a nice balance of independence and affection. He's happy entertaining himself with toys, balls, bully sticks, and enrichment — pupsicles and food puzzles are big hits — and then wandering over for attention when the mood strikes. He sleeps through the night in his crate and settles well indoors.

Like many young dogs, Jonny can get over-excited during high-energy moments or transitions. When that happens, he may be mouthy or vocal, but he responds well to redirection and does best when his day includes plenty of structured enrichment and mental outlets. Keeping his brain busy makes a huge difference for him.

During his time in the shelter, Jonny gained some extra weight due to limited exercise, but he has recently begun a healthy weight-loss journey. He loves movement, enjoys runs, and is now supported by The Farmer's Dog to help him reach his health goals.

Jonny loves people and thrives on attention — if there's a lap available, he'll happily try to claim it. With his expressive personality (and adorable purple tongue!), joyful energy, and adaptable nature, Jonny is ready to be a fun, loving companion for a home excited to keep him active, engaged, and loved

Johnny is a social, happy-go-lucky adventurer who loves both the city and the park. He'd leap right into your arms if you'd let him, always curious to explore every corner he passes. When he's not on the move, he's perfectly content lounging on a bench and people-watching. Expect plenty of kisses andtail wags! He's a happy boy who thrives on attention and new experiences.
