Johann's Story

Johann 5 month old male

Not at RAWL posting for rescuer of an unwanted litter.
Please complete the RAWL application. Once approved, the application will be forwarded. The application can be found on the RAWL website www.rawldogs.org

This is the only boy left. He has an amazing personality and is the most lab-like one of the bunch. However, his hip issues were quite severe. We are waiting to see how much the JPS surgery helps (it does seem to be improving already), but there is potential for him needing hip replacement or FHO surgeries if it does not help enough. He’s the one I worry about most due to his issues - I really want to see him go to a family who would be committed to following through with any necessary medical care. I’ll be sure to talk to any potential adopters about this in detail.

Johann:

Johann has an amazing personality and is the calmest of all his siblings. He loves people and other dogs. Already 60 lbs at 5 months, he is a big goofy boy, and on track to be a large dog. Very sweet! Unfortunately, he was born with bad hips and has already needed one surgery to attempt to improve them as he grows. His forever family needs to be prepared for the potential for ongoing medical expenses/ future surgeries for his hips if needed. He does need to be lifted in and out of the car or use a ramp. Like his sisters, he LOVES water and will be playing in any water he has access to - including his water bowl. He enjoys swimming, which is a great way for him to strengthen his muscles while putting less strain on his joints - this is something he needs to keep doing! Unfortunately, he also has a sensitive stomach, but he is currently doing well on Purina Pro-Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Salmon Large Breed Puppy. He knows some basic commands, is used to sleeping in a crate, is vaccinated, and microchipped. He is on pet insurance, but his hip issue showed up during the waiting period - it is not covered.
