Joey's Story
Meet Joey: CEO of Zoomies, Part-Time Leash Tugboat, Full-Time Good Boy!!
(case #7537)

Hi, I’m Joey, a 3-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix who showed up as a stray and decided, “Yes, I will be adopting humans now.” After some time getting my life together, I’m officially ready to find an active, committed home that can keep up with my big brain and even bigger energy.

I’m a smart, high-octane dude who thrives with people that enjoy staying busy—think hiking, training, dog sports, or basically any activity where I can show off how clever I am. I already know how to sit (thank you very much), and while I do believe walking on a leash is a competitive sport, I’m extremely food-motivated, which means training me is less “work” and more “treat-based negotiation.” I love learning and will happily trade good behavior for snacks.

I might enjoy having a canine roommate, as long as introductions are done slowly and responsibly—no surprise meet-and-greets, please. I’m a gentleman, not a chaos goblin.

As a proud Australian Cattle Dog mix, I come pre-installed with a strong work ethic and the firm belief that I need a job. Obedience training, agility, herding, dog sports, or any activity that keeps both my body and brain busy will make me one very happy camper. Skip my daily mental and physical workouts, though, and I may invent my own hobbies… like interior redesign. (You’ve been warned.)

I’m bold, strong-minded, and full of personality, so I’m best suited for an experienced dog owner who can provide clear structure, leadership, guidance, and boundaries. First-time dog owners—this one might be a bit of an advanced class. But for the right person? I’m endlessly fun, fiercely loyal, and an incredible partner.

If you’re ready to put in the time, energy, and dedication—and want a dog who will match your lifestyle stride for stride—Joey might just be your perfect teammate.
