Joey's Story

Joey, a young Pitbull cross, is looking for a foster or forever home that has experience in force free training of mixed breed dogs.

Joey is about 4.5 years old and presently in rehabilitation at a calm setting in Strathcona County. He has had a tough time in his short life. Physically injured at a young age, one of his legs is shorter than the others, and as a young pup, he was abandoned and left alone to survive. Joey is a fearful dog who needs a non-stressful environment that he can call home. He would do well on an acreage, farm or quiet urban home. He is a sweet boy, but his past life has left him uncertain of new experiences and people. Joey has spent the last two months in a low stress environment that has been working to help him make good decisions when he is scared. He has come a long way in this short time. He is learning to relax, and enjoys walks and play time.

Joey is ready to be in foster or forever home, with a family that will continue with the work he has been doing. He needs a quiet home that does not have other pets or children. If you want to make a difference in Joey’s life, and have the interest and experience with terrier mixes, please find answers to FAQs, an outline of our process/fees, and adoption application here: https://paws-rescue.com/adoption (please email your completed form to us at info@paws-rescue.com).

Providing Animals With Safety for Life Foundation's Adoption Policy
So... you think you have what it takes to adopt? Getting a puppy or a new dog is an exciting moment in a person's life. Dogs truly become part of our family, which is why here at PAWS, we are dedicated to helping pets stay in their forever homes through our application vetting process. We carefully review each application in search of the best match for every dog that comes into our care. Let's talk commitment! Getting a dog means giving them unconditional love and fulfilling all of their needs for the rest of their lives. The basics include love, food, water and shelter - but there is so much more! Be sure you have plans for things like: what will you do with your pet when you go on vacation?, are you able to afford veterinary costs?, and are you willing to take your new dog in for force-free training? If you're ready, we'd love to hear from you! Fill out an application today!
