Joel's Story

Joel is a Lab mix who is a very sweet wallflower. He has this timid side to him that he acts all shy but once he comes out of his shell he is the biggest baby you will meet. He is not housebroken yet as he is still a puppy and still needs work on a leash. Joel came to us with his mom and 9 brothers and sisters after they were found dumped and severely emaciated. They were so underweight they were the size of 4 week old puppies when they were 6-7 weeks old. Joel is a very loving boy who gets along great with everyone he meets, dogs, cats, and kids of all ages. He is very smart and we believe with a little patience he will learn new things very quickly. He is the last one of his litter and even his mom has been adopted. He is ready for his chance at a life of love in his Furever home.

Allen County Animal Rescue Facility's Adoption Policy
HOW TO ADOPT FROM ACARF: So you’ve met one of our cats or dogs whom you want to make part of your family? That’s great! What’s the next step? First, you need to fill out an application. You can fill out and submit an online adoption application or fill one out at the shelter. Please allow us a minimum of 24 hours to review your application and check with your vet and landlord (if applicable). Although it helps to be the first person to file an application for a pet, this may not guarantee that you will actually be the chosen adopter. Our first concern must always be finding the best situation–for our adopters, and for our adoptable pets. Once you have been approved to adopt an animal, we will make an appointment with our contracted veterinary care provider (Countryside Veterinary) to have your pet spayed or neutered. Spaying/neutering our adopted animals is required by the State of Kansas. In addition, we now microchip all our adopted pets before they leave the shelter. Our adoption fee includes up-to-date shots, your pet’s spay/neuter surgery, plus microchipping. When your paperwork is completed, the adoption fee has been paid, spaying/neutering is done, and your dog/cat has been microchipped, you can take your new pet home! Usually, you can pick up your pet the next day following their spay/neuter surgery, at the shelter. Whoever said, "money can't buy love," never paid an adoption fee! Welcome to a lifetime of love and happiness!
