Jody's Story

🌾 Meet Jody (aka JoJo) -- the dog who learned patience before anything else

Jody isn't loud.
She isn't pushy.
She doesn't demand your attention.

She waits.

Jody's story began on the side of the road, where she and her littermates were abandoned. A rescue was contacted -- but no one came. They were left there again. Eventually, another rescue stepped in and made sure they were safe, but Jody grew up without the early stability most puppies get.

And somehow, instead of that making her chaotic or fearful, it made her thoughtful, observant, and deeply respectful of people.

Jody has the kind of manners you usually only see in much older dogs. When the doorbell rings, she doesn't bark or rush the door. When someone enters the home, she waits. She watches. She reads the room. She already knows how to sit for treats, learns routines quickly, and truly wants to do the right thing.

She's affectionate and loves to cuddle -- but she never pushes herself into your space. Belly rubs are her favorite, and when she's ready to relax, she'll quietly retreat to her open crate, her safe place. At night, she sleeps peacefully in her crate in the master bedroom and settles beautifully.

As a heeler mix, Jody is smart, attentive, and loyal -- but unlike the stereotype, she's calm and gentle. She rarely barks, walks nicely on leash, and has a steady presence that makes people feel at ease. She's mostly housebroken (with occasional pee pad use), crate trained, leash trained, and respectful with other dogs (bones should be given separately).

Jody is the kind of dog who stays engaged with her handler, checks in often, and responds well to guidance and cues. She does best with structure, consistency, and a person who values communication and trust.

She would do well in a family home, but she would truly shine in a quieter household or with someone who values a companion over constant activity.

Heeler mixes are often overlooked.
Quiet dogs are often overlooked.

But Jody isn't missing anything -- she's just waiting for someone who notices the ones who don't shout for attention.

She may not steal the spotlight.
But she will be loyal in a way that lasts a lifetime.

⸻

🐾 Jody at a Glance
* Age: Adult (approx.)
* Weight: ~30 lbs
* Breed (best guess): Cattle Dog / Australian Shepherd / Red Heeler mix
* Location: Antioch, IL

🏡 Home Life
* Housebroken: Mostly (occasional pee pad use)
* Crate trained: Yes
* Leash trained: Yes
* Kids: Yes
* Dogs: Yes
* Cats: Unknown

🩺 Vetting
* Spayed
* Up to date on vaccines
* Microchipped

💰 Adoption Fee

$500 adoption fee

⸻

💙 The Right Match

Jody is looking for someone patient, kind, and observant -- someone who understands that the best dogs aren't always the loudest ones in the room.

If you're the kind of person who notices the quiet ones,
JoJo has been waiting for you.

👉 Apply at: www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550
