Jiffy's Story
VERY SPECIAL FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME NEEDED FOR JIFFY

Jiffy isn't looking for just any home. She's looking for the home that will give her all the time she needs to learn that she is finally safe.

Jiffy is about 1 year old and 27 pounds. She came to us from DACC two months ago completely terrified. She weighed only 18 pounds and had pressure sores.

We don't know her entire story, but we believe Jiffy may have spent much of her previous life confined to a small crate. Even now, her crate is her safe place. When the world feels like too much, that's where she goes.

She is not going to run up to a new person asking for pets and kisses. She may not want much interaction at all in the beginning. She will need a long decompression period and a person & dog willing to let her progress on HER timeline.
But underneath all that fear is an incredibly gentle little dog. There is not a mean bone in this girls body. We have never heard her growl, and about the only time she finds her voice is when she thinks breakfast or dinner should be served.

JIFFY'S MUST-HAVES:
Securely fenced yard — NO EXCEPTIONS
At least one medium-to-large, confident, social dog in the home — MUST HAVE
A calm, patient household
Someone who understands that trust may take months, not days
Someone willing to give her space and allow her to come to them
Jiffy absolutely thrives around confident dogs and looks to them for reassurance. Interestingly, she also seems to gravitate toward men more than women.
She is house trained, spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped.
She has walked past cats without an issue and doesn't seem bothered by the chicken hanging out on the other side of the fence. She'll even jog after a ball... she just hasn't figured out what she's supposed to do once she gets there.
And we're seeing tiny little glimpses of Jiffy learning how to be a dog. She loves Yak chews, and she has even picked up a Nylabone all by herself a couple of times. Those may sound like little things, but for Jiffy, they're BIG things.
The TV is still scary though.
But she's trying.
We're looking for a foster-to-adopt home because Jiffy needs the opportunity to settle in without anyone putting a deadline on when she should be "ready."

She doesn't need someone to force her out of her shell.

She needs someone willing to sit beside that shell for as long as it takes.
If you have a secure fenced yard, a confident dog who could show Jiffy the ropes, and enough patience to let this little girl discover life at her own pace, you may be exactly who we've been waiting for.
Kids 8+
