Meet Jewel

Please carefully read Jewel's bio before applying.
Our adoption process and application can be found on our website;

Ideal home: Jewel would love an active home. She gets bored easily if not stimulated, so having a dog buddy who can tire her out would be great. She can jump over couches easily and can jump fences, so while a backyard would be ideal, she should not be left outside unattended. Jewel is super curious and loves getting attention, so she may do well in agility classes. She is very friendly and social, and would be an excellent hiking or running partner. Jewel would do well with a family/multiple people to love on her!

Personality: Jewel is a bundle of joy! She's a goofball who loves people. She has no problem adjusting to new settings, new people, etc. She's gone to temp fosters' places and she'll settle right in. She enjoys playing, especially with other dogs and kids. She's a snuggler and will want to lay on you when you're working, total lapdog behavior at times. She also sometimes will think she's a cat and will walk over you like she weighs nothing. Many think she's also part kangaroo when they see her jump (she'll be amazing at agility.) Overall, Jewel is the best dog to have!

Age: ~3 years old
Breed: Mixed
Weight: 36lbs
Gender: Female
Energy level: Medium-high

Good with dogs: Jewel loves making new friends, she's excited to meet new dogs and jumps like a kangaroo around them. She matches other dogs' energy well and loves to play.
Good with cats: Unknown, but likely not due to high prey drive with squirrels.
Good with kids (+ ages): 6+
Good with strangers: She's super friendly with people. If someone gives her any attention or interacts with her, she will immediately love that person. She jumps to show her affection towards the person and will roll over for them to pet her. We are working on polite introductions.
Guarding issues: None seen
Behavioural issues: No
House trained: Yes
Crate trained: Jewel spends the nights in her crate and when we open the crate in the morning, she doesn't come out immediately. She has become very comfortable with that being her space, she also enjoys being on her bed outside the crate and will often take her chewies or dental sticks and eat them on her bed.
Separation anxiety: Jewel has not been left home alone much due to someone being at home always. Her fosters are working on getting her used to being alone and she's been left for up to an hour.
Destructive: She's destructive with her toys but not with anything else, unless she's bored. When she starts doing that, we play with her instead to keep her occupied.
Leash skills: Jewel is mostly good on her leash and will pull when she needs to pee or poop badly. Sometimes she'll pull when she sees someone she knows or a squirrel. She will try to pick up food if she finds any.
Okay with manipulations: She's okay with all touch from her fosters and won't react when we touch her nails and ears, but at the vet she gets nervous and can be uncomfortable.
Medical issues: None
