Jewel's Story

Meet Jewel — A Little Shy, A Whole Lot of Love

Jewel is a 3-year-old, 45-pound Pit mix who may not be the first dog to run up and greet a stranger, but give her a little time and patience, and you’ll discover an incredibly affectionate, loyal girl who just wants to be near her people.

Jewel is affectionate, energetic, food-motivated, and a little shy. New people can make her nervous, so she needs someone willing to let her warm up at her own pace. Once she trusts you, though, she has a very sweet way of showing you that you've become her person.

Her favorite place? Wherever you are.

Jewel will follow you around the house like your very own furry shadow. And if you're busy doing something she finds completely unnecessary, she'll simply walk over, sit directly in front of you, and politely interrupt. Apparently, whatever you're doing can wait.

She is great with other dogs, crate trained, house broken, and walks well on a leash. She enjoys a good walk, some training, a chance to get her zoomies out, or just curling up and sleeping the day away.

Favorite Food / Treat

Jewel is very food motivated, and her favorite way to start the morning is eating her breakfast right from your hand. It's her preferred way of saying, "Good morning, we're best friends, right?"

Jewel's Perfect Day

Wake up and eat breakfast from her person's hand.

Go for a 15–20 minute morning walk.

Then spend the rest of the day following her person around the house, supervising everything they're doing.

The afternoon can go one of several ways: sleep, walk, run, train, repeat. Jewel isn't picky.

At the end of the day, take another walk, maybe let those zoomies loose, then settle down next to her person for some quiet time.

And finally? Sleep until tomorrow and do it all over again.

Jewel doesn't need a complicated life. She just needs someone who will give her the time to feel safe, earn her trust, and let her show them just how much love she has to give.
